Working with young people
NEM has always striven to share its passion and know-how with new generations. The NEM regularly organizes events to train emerging musicians in interpreting new music and give voice to young composers from here and elsewhere
The NEM has initiated many major events such as the FORUM International des Jeunes Compositeurs and the Rencontres de Musique Nouvelle at the Domaine Forget de Charlevoix. These are important moments in its history, which have allowed hundreds of emerging artists to work with the NEM and its Music Director Lorraine Vaillancourt.

A true musical laboratory, the FORUM International des Jeunes Compositeurs allows young composers to work daily with the ensemble leading up to the concert performance of their work. Since 1991, thirteen editions of the FORUM have taken place: ten in Montreal and three internationally (Adelaide, Amsterdam and Lyon).
A one-of-a-kind initiative, the Rencontres de Musique Nouvelle welcomes about twenty young composers and instrumentalists every year. Since 1994, eighteen editions have taken place at the Domaine Forget de Charlevoix in Quebec.
